Infinity Ward’s best FPS shooter of the year Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is making a return with some revamped graphics and additional content in the mix. The title is coming back with an arsenal of new weapons which can pump out some real damage. One of these deadly guns is the Lachmann-556 which can be unlocked quite early after a few tricks within Modern Warfare 2.
Turns out, its junior associate the Lachmann Sub is the center of attention for most players right now due to the CQB potential it offers in close-range encounters and around tight corners, but the Lachmann-556 is a solid assault rifle players can use to hold a good fight for sure, especially when taking out enemies from a long distance or across buildings in Ground War Mode.
It has a few downsides such as not being as consistent as the impressive M4. But players can overcome these shortcomings, by figuring out the right loadout and attachment combinations, to make the best of their Lachmann-556 build.
Gamers enjoyed experimenting with the new weapons and attachment combinations during the Open Beta that took place from the 24th to the 26th of September 2022. Now fans are eagerly waiting for the actual release to see what else they’ll be getting for their Lachman-556 Assault Rifle builds.
And as for the official release, the game will hit the shelves on October 28, 2022, with Warzone 2.0 dropping alongside Modern Warfare 2’s first season set for November 16, 2022.
Lachmann 556 Overview
The assault rifle’s description in Modern Warfare 2 says that the Lachmann-556 is the keystone in the Lachmann Meer arsenal. It’s featured in the Assault Rifle Category of Modern Warfare 2 and can be unlocked via the Lachmann Meer Weapons Platform It is an adaptive 5.56 weapon system that bridges the gap between submachine guns and full-powered rifles.
The Lachmann-556 features both full-auto and semi-auto firing mechanisms to ensure rapid and burst fire rates, according to the user’s needs. The default magazine size of the gun is 30 rounds with a reserve of 60 rounds. The gun takes in 5.56 NATO Caliber bullets. As for attachment capabilities, the Lachman-556 allows users to equip up to 5 attachments, not taking the receiver into consideration.
The armament is inspired by the 1960’s HK33 developed by the West German Armament Manufacturer Heckler and Koch, that similarly gobbles up 5.56mm bullets. The Lachman-556 pays homage to the HK33 due to its similarly integrated modular system that’s deeply utilized by Modern Warfare 2’s Gunsmith and Weapons Platform.
Lachmann Meer Manufacturer Weapons Platform
This Assault Rifle is part of the Lachmann Meer Manufacturer weapons platform and can be modified using a selection of receivers that can be unlocked as the user levels up and progresses the Weapons Platform.
The weapons platform enables players to swap out receivers and create entirely new weapons. At level 12, players unlock the LM-S in the Lachmann Meer Weapons Tree. Unlock receivers and swap your way to create up to 4 new weapons consisting of the Lachmann-556, Lachmann-762, RAPP H, and the Lachmann Sub

Unlocking the Lachman-556
Most gamers prefer SMGs over ARs in Call of Duty Games. The reason is that SMGs come with a better fire rate and magazine size. Additionally, players using SMGs have a better movement speed as compared to when they run down corridors and relocate with an AR in their hands.
It seems that just like most players in the Open Beta, you also want to get your hands on the Lachmann Sub MP5 SMG. However, when you kick start the game, you’ll find both versions of the Lachmann, the SMG as well as the AR are locked.
The same is the case with most weapons in the Modern Warfare 2 Beta. Players were in luck, though, because a few glitches gave them access to numerous other guns. Without the Lachmann-556, you can not unlock its SMG variant. Let’s get right into how you can use one of the options in the game to unlock the Lachmann-556.

- You need to be aware of the Weapons Platform to gain access to the Lachmann 556. The first Weapons Platform you’ll gain access to is the Tempus Armament with the M4 acting as the base accessible weapon. And you’ll access future Weapons Platforms as you progress through the game.
- As for the Lachmann Meer Manufacturer, you need to level yourself all the way to Rank 16 to unlock the Weapons Platform. Soon as you’re done, you’ll get your hands on the very first Lachmann weapon, the Lachmann-762. Now, use the Lachmann-762 and progress the Weapons Platform till you reach level 17. At level 18, you’ll get your hands on the Lachmann SMG. Finally, at level 19, the Lachmann-556 will finally be yours.
- Another method to unlock the Lachman-556 without ever needing to upgrade from level 16 all the way to 19 was recently discovered. The glitch allows users to equip the Lachman-556 as a secondary weapon. Head over to the weapons loadout menu and equip the Expedite 12. In the Perks section, enable the Overkill Perk to allow another primary weapon to be added to your roster. This will allow the Lachman-556 to become a part of your loadout. Bear in mind, this glitch is a hit or miss and Infinity Ward might eventually patch it out of the game.
Lachmann-556 Stats
The Lachmann 556 boasts some decent stats across the board. Although unpreferred and underrated, the Lachmann bears some decent stats that make it a prime candidate in the various game modes of Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer aspect.
But to make the best of the Lachman-556 offerings, players need to have a basic understanding of their role and positioning in the various map offerings and game modes. Let’s get into the Lachman-556’s impressive stats.
Damage
The Lachman-556 offers one of the better damage outputs in the roster of currently available assault rifles. A few critical hits to the body can pretty much put down any enemy operator. So, exploit the high damage output of the Lachman-556 and rain hellfire on enemy agents.
Fire Rate
The 556 Assault Rifle boasts a high fire rate, making it ideal for spraying enemies that tend to hide behind penetrable shields and covers. The fire rate paired with the 30-round magazine(that can be upgraded to a 40-round magazine or even a 50-round drum) ensures that players have ample time between reloads while they pressure enemy operators.
Range
The Lachman-556 offers a decent firing range. Expect to use it in medium to long-range encounters, especially in open sections of 6v6 maps. The true potential of the Lachman-556 can be brought out in long corridors, buildings, and city sections of ground war mode.
But keep in mind, that the Lachman doesn’t do well in longer sight lines, so don’t expect to go toe to toe with enemy snipers even with a beefy long-range scope attachment equipped. When it comes to close-quarter scenarios, the Lachman-556 can serve as a substitute, but we wouldn’t recommend it due to its mediocre accuracy while hip-firing.
Accuracy
The Lachman-556 offers decent accuracy, optimal for fast-paced medium-range firefights in spacious sections of core 6v6 maps. It’s pretty accurate when it comes to nailing shots when you aim down sights but accuracy is drastically degraded while hip-firing and on the move.
Recoil Control
One of the worst attributes of the Lachman-556 could be its subpar recoil control. The Lachman-556 is atrocious in regards to its recoil and spray patterns, which drastically affect accuracy, especially while players try to hip-fire in tighter sections of the maps. It’s pretty much a hit or miss. Ensure that you’re steadily positioned and crouched in an ideal position to make the most of the Lachman-556 while minimizing recoil and improving accuracy.
Mobility
The Lachman-556 equipped as a primary weapon allows users decent levels of Mobility. Players can quickly navigate lanes and routes with the Lachman-556 on hand and even relocate to flank routes with ease. But there are indeed better options available when it comes to flanking tactics and quick lane swaps, so bear in mind.
Handling
The Lachman-556 offers adequate levels of mobility across the board, reducing the levels of camera and crosshair shake when quickly repositioning or getting behind cover especially when enemy operators are on your tail. Despite its underrated nature, the Lachman-556 serves well in terms of its handling capabilities.
Lachmann-556 Attachments
Attachments for specific weapons can be unlocked as the player levels up. Additionally, newer attachments can be unlocked by progressing the Weapons Platform.
The Lachman-556 boasts a tremendous number of attachments due to cross-support across the Lachmann Meer Platform. Players can swap out optics, under barrels, grips, magazines, and barrels for the Lachmann platform of weapons to mix and match and create the ultimate Lachmann-556 setup.
Remember, any attachment unlocked for any of the Lachmann Meer Platform weapons can be equipped with any weapon within the platform. As for universal attachments, they can be equipped with any weapon in the game irrespective of the weapons category or platform in question.

Blueprints
Blueprints allow users to access weapons earlier in your level progression and weapons platform progression tree, enabling players to access powerful weaponry earlier on in the game.
Blueprints come pre-built with custom attachments and weapon skins for players to enjoy unique weapon builds and experiences. Blueprints can be viewed in the armory section of the weapons tab. Currently, no blueprints are available for the Lachmann-556, and will be listed once the game officially launches.
