The Witcher Season 3 has resumed production at Netflix, after it was paused last month due to a COVID outbreak.
Updates from members of the cast on social media from the set heralded the news.
As spotted by Witcher fansite Redanian Intelligence, Mecia Simson, Cassie Clare and Harvey Quinn all shared posts from the set. Netflix confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter last week that filming was to be “paused due to COVID and we will be up and running as soon as it is safe to do so.”
According to rumours Geralt himself – Henry Cavill – was one of those struck by the disease.
While this was unconfirmed, and his reps declined to comment, Cavill posted his own update to his Instagram page.
A known PC hardware buff, he spent the downtime upgrading his PC. It turned out his AIO cooler had given up in the recent heatwave, so he replaced them and upgraded his fans.
The Witcher Season 3 – predicted release date
The Witcher Season 3 began filming in April of this year.
The official plot summary says we’ll find Ciri training up with Geralt this season.
After the pair have been forced into hiding, they’re led to the fortress of Aretuza by Yennifer.
She hopes to find out more about Ciri’s untapped powers. However, the three get more than they bargained for and will have to fight back against a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic and treachery.
A number of new faces have been added to the cast for the third season.
They include Upload star Robbie Amell as Gallatin and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings actress Meng’er Zhang as Milva.
Also joining the cast are Star Wars: The Last Jedi actor Hugh Skinner as Prince Radovid and Christelle Elwin as Mistle.
There’s no official premiere date for The Witcher Season 3 on Netflix at the time of writing.
Season Two arrived at the tail end of last year after being filmed in 2020.
So maybe we’ll see the third before 2022 is out? If so, expect an announcement soon otherwise it’ll most likely arrive in 2023. We’ll update should we hear for sure.
Will there be a Witcher 4?
Meanwhile, in the gaming world, CD Projekt Red has hinted a new game will be arriving in the future.
We still have no idea when, but we’re confident a new entry in the The Witcher franchise is in the works courtesy of a CD Projekt Red business strategy report.
