The bespectacled among us might be wondering – can you wear glasses with PSVR 2? The short answer is yes, but there are a few caveats.

Sony is releasing their highly anticipated, well-reviewed PSVR 2 headset today with the price now confirmed. Amongst the extensive set of FAQs released by PlayStation, they’ve addressed was whether you could wear glasses inside of the headset. Here is what they had to say:

“Yes, PSVR 2 was designed to accommodate players who wear glasses. However, some very wide or unusually shaped glasses may not fit.”

So there you have it. Essentially the answer is yes, though Sony is covering itself, as the space limitations inside the headset will not allow for peculiar glasses to fit.

Does wearing glasses affect the PSVR 2 display?

Wearing glasses unfortunately can have some impact on the VR gaming experience. Part of this is an unavoidable part of wearing glasses: a decreased field of view. In VR this can lessen the sense of immersion.

Another issue could be the glass reflecting the display of the screen, which could compromise the new eye-tracking technology. However, this is not a confirmed issue, and, as Sony has confirmed glasses work with the headset, we are hoping this won’t be an issue.

The good news is that there is another solution as well. There are companies out there such as Reloprix, and VR Optician who offer VR lens inserts. These are lenses made to fit different prescriptions and clip onto the headset’s lenses. Meaning that the headset can wear the glasses rather than you.

Frequently asked questions

Will glasses scratch PSVR 2 lenses?

For other VR headsets such as the Hyperkin VR Lens, it has been confirmed that glasses can scratch the lenses. However, as Sony themselves confirmed that normal-sized glasses can be worn, we are hoping that, if you’re careful, this shouldn’t be an issue for PSVR 2.

Is it better to wear glasses in VR?

Yes – if you wear glasses usually, and the manufacturer has confirmed you can wear them safely inside the headset, they will improve your experience.

Can I use VR if I wear glasses?

It depends on the headset. While PSVR 2 is accommodating to most kinds of glasses, older headsets like Meta Quest 2 cannot fit glasses inside the headset. Similarly, the HTC Vive XR Elite uses prescription adjustment since glasses do not fit inside the headset.
