RTX 4070 Ti vs RTX 4070 Ti Super price comparison
We’ll kick things off by reminding you of the RTX 4070 Ti MSRP of $799 which is a noticable jump up from the usual going rates of 70-class cards. That’s due in part because this model was originally supposed to be the RTX 4080 12GB before it was unlaunched and re-christened before release. Fast forwarding to more recent times, though, and the RTX 4070 Ti Super carries a starting price of $799 as well, meaning that this latest iteration will cost you no more than the base model.

The RTX 4070 Ti was released in April 2023 following the community backlash around the original pricing for the RTX 4080 12GB model which occurred at the start of Ada’s life cycle. In contrast, you won’t be waiting much longer for the RTX 4070 Ti Super as this GPU will be hitting shelves worldwide from January 24, around a week after the RTX 4070 Super launches.

Here’s the most pivotal thing when deciding between the RTX 4070 Ti or the RTX 4070 Ti Super, it all comes down to the hardware changes made for the better. To get you up to speed, the RTX 4070 Ti is built upon the AD104 die with 7,680 CUDA cores and 12GB GDDR6X memory on a 192-bit memory bus. It’s primarily geared towards high-end 1440p, but can absolutely do 4K thanks to DLSS 3.
Now we get into the really interesting developments. That’s because the RTX 4070 Ti Super is built on the larger AD103 die, the same graphics processor as the RTX 4080, while features 8,448 CUDA cores, 16GB GDDR6X memory, and a 256-bit memory bus if we go by Nvidia’s specifications and TechPowerUp. Effectively, it’s an 80-class GPU priced at the sub-$800 mark which is truly monumental for the Ada GPU generation.
During Nvidia’s CES 2024 Special Address, Team Green explained that the RTX 4070 Ti Super is “2.5X faster” than the RTX 3070 Ti thanks to its 44 Shader TFLOPS, 102 RT TFLOPS, and 706 AI TOPS alongside aforementioned improvements. Considering the fact that the RTX 4070 Super outperforms the RTX 3090, you can rest assured that this card will easily live up to 1440p at 144Hz+ and do 4K all day without issues.

At this point in time we haven’t had hands-on with the RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card, but there are benchmark figures from Nvidia to go off of. There’s up to 4.5x times the relative performance of the previous 70-class series. In terms of fps performance, Team Green has showcased how much of a generational leap the Super variant has over the 3070 Ti and 2070 Super, but not against the stock RTX 4070 Ti model.
As seen above, there’s some large leaps made with the RTX 4070 Ti Super, however, there’s no direct comparison to the older RTX 4070 Ti to take advantage of at this time. It’s a given that the Ada line would be generationally superior to older models, so we’ll just focus on the framerates of the newest card.
The benchmarks were captured with an Intel Core i9-12900K at 1440p with ray tracing enabled where possible. Portal with RTX is incredibly demanding on even leading hardware but the RTX 4070 Ti Super supposedly achieves up to 100fps where the RTX 3070 Ti struggles to hit 60fps, this is with DLSS 3 enabled. The same can be said with Cyberpunk 2077 and Starfield which top out at around 110 and 170 fps respectively. We’ll update you when we have hands-on with our own testing to confirm these claims in our review.
Should you buy the RTX 4070 Ti or the RTX 4070 Ti Super?
Out of the two, we think you should buy the RTX 4070 Ti Super because it’s priced identically to the non-Super variant while being larger, packed with more CUDA cores, and 4GB extra GDDR6X VRAM. If you’re someone that wants both high-end 1440p and exceptional 4K gaming for under $800 then this appears to be the perfect card for you.
Will there be an RTX 4070 Ti Super Founders Edition?
No. Nvidia has confirmed that there will not be an RTX 4070 Ti Super Founders Edition model released as is the case with the RTX 4070 Super and RTX 4080 Super. Some manufacturers for this GPU include ASUS, Gigabyte, Inno3D, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac. We’re likely to be a wealth of these options on launch day.
