After dropping their bombshell RTX 4090 card on the 12th, Nvidia have another one to drop today – they have officially announced the ‘unlaunch’ of the RTX 4080 12GB Edition.
After a huge week involving a lack of stock from Nvidia’s RTX 4090, there has been backlash regarding the need for the 12GB RTX 4080.
Nvidia stated that “The RTX 4080 12GB is a fantastic graphics card, but it’s not named right. Having two GPUs with the 4080 designation is confusing.” What this means is that the 16GB RTX 4080 is the only card launching on November 16th.
This isn’t great for those hoping to pick up a cheaper high end 40-series GPU – as they’ll only have to wait longer to join in the Lovelace party.
