Sony has announced its PlayStation Explore earbuds and headset, including a confirmed pre-order date.
For those late to the party, Sony has announced a flurry of exciting new products hailed to reflect the “generational leaps” the company has made in gaming. The look of these fancy, premium headsets isn’t dissimilar to the PSVR 2 released earlier this year. While the Elite wireless headset is more like the next generation of PlayStation’s Pulse 3D headset, the Pulse Explore earbuds will be the first time Sony has released internally developed earbuds for PS5. We’re here for it.
Where to pre order PlayStation Explore earbuds and Elite headset
The PlayStation Pulse Explore earbuds and Elite headset are now available to pre-order. Following the release of the PlayStation Portal and PS5 Slim, the PlayStation Pulse Explore earbuds will arrive to global audiences on December 6th this year. Meanwhile, the Pulse Elite wireless headset will launch in most global markets by February 21st 2024.

It won’t be long until you can buy the PlayStation Explore earbuds and headset. While Sony has confirmed the Pulse Explore earbuds will arrive to most global audiences on December 6th, the Pulse Elite headset won’t release until February 21st. PlayStation earbuds price – how much does it cost?
The PlayStation Pulse Explore earbuds will cost $199 / £199, which is around the same price as PlayStation’s DualSense Edge controller. Naturally, the best wireless gaming headsets and earbuds easily cost more than $100, though we’re surprised by just how much Sony wants us to play, considering the Pulse Explore earbuds will primarily be used for gaming. We’ll have to wait for the independent reviews before we make any judgements on whether the PS5 earbuds are worth it.
PlayStation Pulse Elite headset – how much does it cost?
The PlayStation Pulse Elite headset will cost $149.99, making it about $50 cheaper than the PlayStation Pulse Explore earbuds. They will be available for pre order and purchase sometime this year, and is said to deliver an “audiophile-level listening experience” that you would expect to find in premium devices.

PlayStation Link is Sony’s exciting new wireless audio software designed to support lossless audio and make it easier to switch between multiple devices. If you’re an Apple owner, it’s a similar technology that allows Airpod users to switch seamlessly between devices.
It will be used for the PS5 console, PlayStation Portal, Pulse Explore wireless earbuds, and Pulse Elite headset via a USB hub. We’re also expecting it to be used for the upcoming PS5 Slim console
