Jim Carrey has confirmed previous rumours that he's stepping into the role of Dr. Robotnik for Paramount's upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film.

Speaking at TCA (via Deadline), The Mask actor revealed that his character 'will be live-action,' and commented that he plans to bring Eggman to life with 'magic, mixed with desperation.' Presumably this includes growing a huge moustache too, as it wouldn't be Robotnik without one.

Sonic the Hedgehog is due to hit cinemas in November 2019 and includes James Marsden in a major role. It'll combine live-action and animation, although right now there's no word on who is voicing the Blue Blur himself.

We're hoping it'll be better than the Super Mario Bros. film, although to be fair that's probably not too difficult.
