He's had a pretty stellar career when you look at his filmography, but surely taking on the role of Dr. Eggman in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie would be the pinnacle for Jim Carrey. No point in carrying on after that, really, is there?
Over the weekend Deadline reported that the Dumb & Dumber star was in talks with Paramount to play the hedgehog's nemesis in the CG live-action cross weird mash-up thing. While nothing is set in stone yet, it's definitely made some take a little bit more notice of whatever this movie turns out to be.
Westworld star James Marsden is already attached to the project, as is Gossip Girl's Tika Sumpter, with Jeff Fowler directing and Neal Moritz, Tim Miller and Mie Onishi acting as producers.
The story… well, we can hazard a guess that the eggy bastard will be doing something he shouldn't like make every chocolate bar taste like a Bounty, and the Mega Drive mascot will likely have to put a stop to his nefarious plans.
The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is set to come to cinemas in 2019.
