The probably-gonna-be-terrible Sonic the Hedgehog movie has cast X-Men and Westworld star James Marsden, reports Variety.

Previous rumours this week had attached Ant-Man star Paul Rudd in the lead role, although this is apparently no longer the case.

There's no word yet on who Marsden will play in the film, though presumably it'll involve a lot of running.

Sonic the Hedgehog will be a hybrid of live-action and animation and is scheduled to hit cinemas on November 15, 2019. It's the first time the Blue Blur has has received a major big-screen adaptation.

The film will be directed by Jeff Fowler, who is best known for helming the Oscar-nominated short Gopher Broke.
