Ubisoft’s XDefiant has been drawing in more and more players since its first beta release with some players waiting eagerly for the full game to release so they can make the switch over from Modern Warfare 2. However, with the recent open beta just finishing some players are taking to social media asking for XDefiant’s ultimate to instead be tied to objective gameplay, as opposed to the amount of kills a player gets.

Taking to the XDefiant Reddit, user Howl_Wolfen noted that the ultimate is “too dependant on kills in an objective-based game.” Explaining in greater detail, they said that they noticed players with higher kills as opposed to objective play were getting and utilizing their ultimate much earlier in each game. They proposed that Ubisoft, “either slow down the build on kills or increase the rate you gain your ultimate while playing objectives to incentivize playing objectives.”

Other players backed up this claim as well, with one user having tested this theory in-game by just going for kills and ignoring the game’s objective. They said, “I’d get my ultimate once per match and almost close to a second. Maybe 50-75% of the way through.” They continued, “It would be good if gaining your ultimate was based off actually playing the objective rather than TDM’ing it like it’s Call of Duty.”

While this seems to be an issue for a number of players, others are hoping the experience will be more objective based on these game modes once a Team Deathmatch game mode is released later down the line. User Bleak5170 said, “In my matches, it seemed like 80% of players were completely ignoring the objectives and treating every mode like TDM. Hopefully, this is not as bad once TDM is actually released.”

Despite this issue, many have been praising XDefiant for its more traditional PvP FPS gameplay and Activision must be taking note as the Modern Warfare 2 free access weekend started a day after the XDefiant open beta went live.
