While Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 4 have added a load of new content to the game, it seems like more players are beginning to veer away from the game entirely. Some players are even patiently awaiting the release of Ubisoft’s highly anticipated first-person shooter, XDefiant.

Players on Reddit, such as TheGreatlyRespected, said that while they “love the new guns” Season 4 has added they noted, that they “Hate the battle pass skins and showdown map.” Other players are noting that the addition of new maps for varying modes is too little too late. EmbarrassedAd6146 said that while, “We did end up getting a decent amount of maps spanning GW, 6v6, and gunfight, but at this point in the life cycle, it’s a little too late. This is the volume of content we should’ve gotten after that s1-s2 drought.”

However, they did continue by saying that Warzone and DMZ seem to be a much better experience for players as it added, “Lots of new content, lots of much-needed reworks and QOL updates.” The downside to this though was that they thought the modes suffer heavily from bugs. While some believe the new maps to be good they seem to also be plagued by cheaters with one player saying, “Maps good, wish cheaters would get f**ked though.”

Other players are even looking to move on from Modern Warfare 2 in favour of Ubisoft’s upcoming XDefiant. Addictive_Nature said, “The game lost me at Season 3. Sick of the BS from Activision. Bring on XDefiant.” Another player chimed in saying, “XDefiant for the win at the moment. Can’t wait to play the beta tonight.” This will surely be music to the ears of Ubisoft executives as another XDefiant beta is set to run from June 21 to June 23.

While the attitude towards Season 4 has been mainly negative from players, users such as Jakemcjakeface were quick to note their love for the latest season saying, “12v12 search and destroy on battle maps. No release of a broken weapon. Best season yet.”

Whether a substantial amount of players will make the jump to XDefiant when it releases will remain to be seen, but Activision might already be taking note of the potential competitor as the Modern Warfare 2 free access weekend takes place a day after XDefiant open beta goes live.
