Ubisoft has revealed its upcoming free-to-play shooter XDefiant has undergone a name change, dropping the Tom Clancy name.

It’s been a somewhat quiet few months from the FPS following it’s reveal and initial testing period last summer. However, Ubisoft has revealed this week it’s ready to welcome some more players for a new round of testing. The studio is sending out invites for these sessions from today on PC with an interesting new wrinkle.

In the announcement, Ubisoft revealed the following. “These sessions will be an opportunity for you to get hands on in-progress features and provide feedback. Additionally, you’ll be introduced to Factions from games outside of the Tom Clancy universe. With these changes, the game will now be known as XDefiant.”

There’s currently no word on who these other factions are just yet. Sadly, the sessions are also under NDA so those of us not on them will have to wait a little while longer to find out. If you’re wanting to peek behind the curtain, both PC and console players are invited to sign up for the chance to be selected on the game’s official website.

XDefiant was first revealed back in July and promised to feature factions from Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, The Division & more. Whether it now includes Assassins and Rabbids – we’ll just have to wait and see. The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but is coming soon to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
