WWE 2K26 has partially been revealed by the official WWEGames X account. So far, 2K has unveiled two editions: the Attitude Era Edition and the Monday Night War Edition. No other details have been shared yet, but the covers feel very reminiscent of WWE ’13, especially when paired with recent leaks for WWE 2K26.

The Attitude Era refers to WWE’s 1997–2002 period, when the roster featured household names like Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock on top. The Attitude Era Edition cover confirms Stone Cold and The Rock for the WWE 2K26 roster, alongside Kane, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Triple H, Kurt Angle, The Dudley Boyz, Trish Stratus, Lita, Stephanie McMahon, and Chyna.

Meanwhile, the Monday Night War Edition references the historic battle for television ratings between WWE and WCW from 1995 to 2001, culminating in WWE purchasing WCW’s assets.

The Monday Night War Edition cover features Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H, Kurt Angle, and Chyna representing Team WWE, while WCW is represented by Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Goldberg, Booker T, and Eric Bischoff, confirming all of them for the WWE 2K26 roster.

Interestingly, Mick Foley does not appear on either cover, despite his major role during the Attitude Era, including the iconic Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker in 1998. There is uncertainty surrounding Foley’s inclusion in WWE 2K26, as the Hall of Famer has said he is not extending his Legends contract beyond June 2026, and his absence from both covers could suggest he is not part of the roster.

However, Mankind’s legendary fall from the Hell in a Cell cage is briefly shown in the Attitude Era Edition trailer, so Foley’s omission from the covers could simply be a strange exclusion. Either way, with both covers revealed, it’s now clear why Logan Paul teased the return of the classic WWE “scratch logo” for 2K26.

WWE 2K26 covers and leaks evoke WWE ’13 similarities

With editions centered on the Attitude Era and the Monday Night Wars, WWE 2K26 is evoking strong similarities to WWE ’13. That game featured a Showcase Mode chronicling the history of the Attitude Era and was fronted by CM Punk, who is also the leaked cover star for the WWE 2K26 Standard Edition.

According to leaks, CM Punk is the focus of this year’s Showcase Mode, which is alleged to include three playable sections. One of these sections is reportedly centered on “What If?” dream scenarios, potentially involving fantasy matches placing Punk within the Attitude Era. If true, one obvious dream match would be CM Punk vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin, a matchup that was heavily teased for real life during the marketing of WWE ’13.

It’s also possible that the Attitude Era and Monday Night Wars could factor into the returning Island mode, but it remains to be seen why WWE 2K26 is leaning so heavily into the past.

The Attitude Era is the most famous period in WWE history, and WWE games have revisited it multiple times since WWE ’13, including WWE 2K16’s Stone Cold Steve Austin Showcase Mode. While it remains WWE’s most iconic era, there’s a growing risk of it feeling overused, especially when underrepresented periods like the Ruthless Aggression Era (2002–2008) remain untouched.

Leaks also suggest four new match types, including the return of I Quit and Inferno matches. Both were featured in WWE ’13 before disappearing after WWE 2K14, further contributing to the sense of déjà vu, though their return is largely welcome.

Moving away from the Attitude Era and into the present, 2K has teased new and exciting NXT additions to the WWE 2K26 roster, including Blake Monroe and Zaria. There’s also the possibility of AAA wrestlers being included following their debut in the 2K mobile game, WWE Supercard, with El Hijo del Vikingo seemingly confirming that he has been scanned.
