Changli has just been released in Wuthering Waves and she is quickly becoming a favourite character for many, with some saying she’s the most fun DPS to play at the moment. As a Fusion DPS, however, people realise there is a horrible limitation on Changli – and other Fusion characters – due to the lack of 4-cost Echos they can use.

As mentioned, Changli has just been released in Wuthering Waves as the second Convene banner in patch 1.1. Changli follows after Jinhsi’s banner, and unlike Jinhsi she is a Fusion-focused character. Within WuWa, some of the biggest complaints about the game have to do with Echos and the grinding, causing a lot of grief.

This grief is being further manifested due to the fact there is only one main 4-cost Echo to use on Changli to get the full Molten Rift Sonata Effect bonus for Fusion characters. In a post by OP Oob_TheLoser on the r/WutheringWaves, they shared a thread titled: “Kuro games I BEG YOU release a 4-cost echo for molten rift other than this“.

The post shows an image of the 4-cost Echo Inferno Rider and says “His animation always mess up my run” in all caps. The post has pointed out a glaring problem with the main 4-cost Echoes in Wuthering Waves, especially in regards to Fusion characters. “Inferno rider is awful especially on phone mid fight I’ll get a slight lag spike then be riding off into the distance cause it decided to start driving away and not attack then I’ll have to restart the fight” one person commented.

It seems to be the case that if you’re using a main DPS Fusion character like Changli, you don’t have a lot of options for your main Echo. While there is an argument to be made that you can change up your cost order to not use Inferno Rider as your Main Echo, it really isn’t the most optimal way to build your DPS.

The OP comments further down the post, expressing more frustration with the lack of options: “He’s [Inferno Rider] just awfully bad, it makes you open for attacks and it takes too long for the animation to finish. And since I’m on phone he sometimes HE f**king DRIVE AWAY”. People on the post say that using Inferno Rider is the best for Changli, simply because it grants a buff to Fusion DMG on its third hit.

The post has sparked some debate within the community, with some saying “Def agree on more varieties for 4 cost echoes for all types” while another thinks “I’m not a fan of being forced to use 4 cost with such a huge variety of 3 and 1 cost skills, either. But Inferno Rider is far from being worst out there…”.

When you look at other main DPS characters, like Jinhsi for example, she has it much better using Jue as her main 4-cost Echo. Sadly, this post highlights that not all 4-cost echoes were made equally and it’s clearly something people want changed. At the moment, Changli is somewhat hindered thanks to this limitation, and fans want more variety instead of being “forced to use it on Changli” and possibly miss out on some DPS.
