Dotemu has announced that Windjammers 2 will not only be heading to PS4 and PlayStation 5 when it launches, but will also get a multiplayer beta from tomorrow.
The disc-throwing follow-up was already heading to Nintendo Switch and PC later this year, but will now also launch on Sony consoles. Two players face off trying to shoot a frisbee into the opponent’s goal using an array of fighting-game style moves.
As described on the PlayStation Blog, the game’s multiplayer open beta will kick off from tomorrow and run until August 22. It’ll be free and available to all on PS5, PS4 and PC and won’t require a PlayStation Plus subscription. It’ll include four of the game’s characters; the UK’s Steve Miller, Gary Scott from the US, Loris Biaggi from Italy and France’s Sophie De Lys. You’ll be able to pick from four stages: Beach, Ring, Stadium or Rooftoop, each with their own characteristics and modifiers.
The 2017 PlayStation 4 and PS Vita release of Windjammers, by the way, was an updated port of the original game which released for the Neo Geo all the way back in 1994.
You can check out an informative how to play trailer fronted by the game’s Gary Scott down below. Windjammers 2 doesn’t have a full release date outside of this year yet, but will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC when it does. The Windjammers 2 Beta goes live on the PlayStation Store and Steam from tomorrow.
