Dead By Daylight has had an amazing 2024, and one of the best additions has been the introduction of 2v8 mode. This LTM was a blast in its first iteration, and it is even better in its second adaptation thanks to more killers, extra maps, new classes, and a host of changes. While fans are hoping the LTM will become a persistent fixture one day, a DBD dev has refuted claims that BeHaviour has ever “confirmed” 2v8 mode will become “permanent”.

BeHaviour’s current iteration of 2v8 mode is only sticking around until November 26th. During its stay, players can get a total of 500K Bloodpoints from its daily login rewards, and players can get even more when combined with the November 2024 codes. Once the LTM reaches its end, players will then be able to enjoy Chapter 34, for which perks have already been revealed for both The Houndmaster and Taurie Cain.

It will be sad when 2v8 mode departs in a couple of weeks as it is a lot of fun as an excellent alternative to the regular 1v4. Dead By Daylight players can continue to hope that it will become “permanent” in the future, but right now BeHaviour has not committed to it ever happening.

Dead By Daylight dev has not “confirmed” 2v8 mode will become “permanent”

A lot of the Dead By Daylight community understandably want 2v8 mode to stick around because it’s a lot of fun and different to the norm. BeHaviour are fully aware of this desire, and they have addressed the matter a couple of times in the past.

Because of how successful and popular the first iteration proved, BeHaviour extended its duration. In addition to extending the LTM, the developer briefly addressed demand for the mode to “stay permanently”.

In response to its popularity, BeHaviour admitted they were aware of “demands for 2v8 to stay permanently and while we love the enthusiasm, this is only the first iteration of which we expect more”.

Alongside BeHaviour’s post on X, former DBD community manager, Peantis, also suggested there’s the possibility 2v8 could eventually stay. As shared on Reddit, Peantis posted “2v8 will return in the future after some iteration. We’d like to do some fine tuning and polishing before we consider the possibility of making it permanent”.

Due to these responses, some fans have mistakenly believed that the mode is definitely becoming a persistent match-type in the future. However, that is not the case, as reminded by community manager and developer, Mandy.

A comment on the BeHaviour Interactive forums said “According to the devs, 2v8 is effectively in an open beta state while they work out all the kinks and take all the time and player feedback they can to make the mode the best it can be once they do make it permanent”.

In response, Mandy clarified “That’s not exactly what we’ve said. We have confirmed that there’s more iterations, adding in more killers each time etc. As that takes a lot of balancing and resources…we’ve not confirmed at all that this will be made permanent at any time”.
