The players asked, and Behaviour Interactive answered; the DBD devs have announced that the highly popular 2v8 mode will stay for another week after it made up “over 40% of all matches” since its launch. Instead of ending today, you can now continue playing 2v8 until Thursday, August 15, at 8 am PT / 11 am ET.
Behaviour Interactive posted the announcement via X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit, immediately garnering plenty of praise from the community. However, it is worth noting that the devs haven’t made any promises regarding its long-term inclusion, saying, “We’ve also heard demands for 2v8 to stay permanently, and while we love the enthusiasm, this is only the first iteration of which we expect more.”
“While Killer queues will always be a challenge in this mode, matchmaking wait times can be iteratively reduced through more Killer variety and a more compelling survivor experience,” indicating that more killers and a survivor-sided balance update could be in the works. However, this also means that 2v8 is unlikely to be a permanent part of the game any time soon, as Behaviour works to make it as polished as possible.
Once the 2v8 mode disappears on the 15th, the devs will “wrap things up with a deep dive into the results,” so you’ll probably be able to find out which killers and perks players used the most, along with any other relevant stats.
