It’s been a tough year for the Grand Theft Auto community. Fans have been desperate to learn and see more about GTA 6, but Rockstar Games have refused to reveal anything following on from last year’s trailer. While the lack of news has been disheartening, some slightly good news is that snow is coming to GTA Online very soon. Here you will find the expected start date for snow in GTA Online 2024 so you know when the winter update will arrive to deliver Christmas content and activities.
As of writing, the release date for GTA 6 is still pegged for sometime in 2025. It’s already been over one year since the reveal trailer came out, and fans are naturally starving for more information. Rockstar has promised that the game will be “really great” on all platforms, including the Series S, but we will just have to be patient for it to arrive, whether next year or pushed back into 2026.
While we cannot wait for more details about arguably the most anticipated game of all time, Grand Theft Auto fans can help pass the time very soon by enjoying the return of snow in GTA Online to end 2024.
When does snow come to GTA Online 2024?
The expected start date for snow in GTA Online 2024 is December 19th. This hasn’t been confirmed by Rockstar, but weekly updates typically occur on Thursday, and, in the past couple of years, snow has arrived the final Thursday before Christmas.
Provided snow does start falling as expected, it should occur at the weekly update time of 2AM PT/5AM ET/10AM GMT. Again, this hasn’t been confirmed by Rockstar, it’s just what to expect based off the past.

GTA Online 2024 winter update and Christmas content
When snow does arrive in GTA Online 2024, there will be an abundance of new Christmas content to enjoy as part of the winter update.
There should be snowman locations to find all around Los Santos, and there could be the return of the Yeti that appeared in 2023. We also expect the return of the Happy Holidays Hauler Christmas truck that players will need to find driving around the map.
Unfortunately, unlike previous years, nothing new has leaked. Still, while nothing has leaked, we’re as excited as usual for the Christmas update as it always brings festive joy with the annual winter content, outfits, and the ability to throw snowballs at other players.
