Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to be the biggest game of 2025, despite only releasing on consoles. Nevertheless, the prospect of GTA 6 on console, specifically Xbox Series S, has led many to worry about performance or the game being limited by the available hardware.

More than a year away from its launch, GTA 6 publisher Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, has attempted to quash fears of the game on console.

Don’t worry about GTA 6

In a recent earnings call for Take-Two, Zelnick attempted to calm fears of GTA 6 performance to investors and fans. With the new Grand Theft Auto game set as the game company’s biggest product launch of the generation, every failure point has to be addressed.

Zelnick explained that the upcoming open-world game is hyper-focused on providing a great experience on all available platforms. With no PC port confirmed, the game’s initial release is exclusive to four SKUs of console: Xbox Series S, Series X, PS5, and PS5 Pro. According to the Take-Two CEO, it will be a great experience on all.

“Look, we support the platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech,” Zelnick said. “Our labels are really good at that. I’m not really worried.”

The Take-Two CEO explained that gamers go where “great” games are, and the publisher is in the business of making great games for any available platform. As for Rockstar Games, the studio does have a serious pedigree of maximizing the most out of console tech. After all, if the studio could fit Red Dead Redemption 2 on a base Xbox One, they should work magic with the new generation of machines.

GTA 6 is currently scheduled to release sometime in Fall 2025. For more news on the upcoming open-world game, read about how fans are convinced Rockstar has hidden an announcement in the moon, and they might be right.
