After the rapid success of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, developer Saber Interactive is already considering changing its plans for post-launch support. With story DLC now a viable solution to continue Titus’ story, an eventual Space Marine 3 may focus on different chapters within the Warhammer universe.
Space Marine 3 may not be an Ultramarines game
After revealing the huge launch sales of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, Saber Interactive CCO Tim Willits revealed that the studio already has ideas for an eventual sequel. However, the next game in the series may not focus on the Ultramarines chapter of the Adeptus Astartes.
In an interview with IGN, Willits revealed that more chapters could be explored in the next Warhammer game. While the blue Ultramarines are extremely iconic, the next game could potentially focus on other legions such as the Blood Angels or even a traitorous faction such as the Word Bearers.
“We just have to figure it out. I would love to do [Space Marine 3],” Willits said. “Yes, yes, yes! There’s so many different factions… there are other chapters, too, that are interesting…”
Many years to wait
With the massive success of Space Marine 2, fans will have to wait a long time for Space Marine 3. After spending five years supporting its last game, World War Z, Saber has plans for years of post-launch content for its new release.
As new Operations missions and PvP maps, classes and customisation comes to the game, fans should be kept fulfilled with tonnes of content to play through. After all, there’s still thousands of Tyrannids and traitors to slay in the name of The God Emperor.
