After pushing the base PlayStation 5 to its limits, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is set to receive some huge upgrades for PS5 Pro players. While the reveal of Sony’s mid-gen refresh has resulted in outrage over its exorbitant price, developers are still aiming to use the new console to deliver better visuals and performance for their games.
Space Marine 2 PS5 Pro support detailed
After revealing ideas for story DLC and even an eventual Space Marnie 3, Saber Interactive CCO Tim Willits detailed plans for a new PlayStation 5 Pro upgrade for the new Warhammer game. Speaking to IGN, Willits revealed that the game’s Performance Mode should see a huge visual upgrade over the base PS5 version.
Willits explained that the game’s Performance Mode should look even better than the base system’s Quality Mode. Using PSSR upscaling, the game should look better while playing at a smoother framerate. After all, the game does suffer from some pretty big drops on the current PS5 hardware.
“What I hope is with the PS5 Pro, with the AI upsampling, that players will be able to play Space Marine 2 in Performance [Speed] Mode, and it’ll look better, hopefully — hopefully, I don’t know — it’ll look better than it does in Quality Mode now,” Willits said.
The Saber CCO revealed that he plays the game in performance mode on PS5, and it “looks f***ing great”, but with the PS5 Pro it should look even better whilst running smoother.
No release date yet
While there is now a solid list of PS5 Pro Enhanced games for the upcoming console upgrade, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 isn’t on that list. An upgrade is obviously planned—alongside new content for PvP and Operations—but there is currently no date for the upgrade. With years of post-launch support planned for the new action game, fans of the game will be eating well.
