Developer & publisher Digital Extremes has announced that the free-to-play MMO shooter Warframe will get Cross Play and Cross Save functionality later this year.

The studio made the announcement during this year’s annual TennoLive celebrations for the game. The team confirmed both features were in development, and all future updates going forward—including upcoming story expansion The New War—will be released at the same time on all formats. You’ll be able to use the studio’s own Origin system to squad up with friends regardless of platform.

A 30 minute gameplay demo was also shown during the event, detailing the aforementioned expansion. The New War will see the Tenno and their allies fighting off a new attack from the Sentient threat, and will see Corpus Engineer Veso, Grineer Soldier Kahl-175, and Dax warrior Teshin all playable for the first time.

Digital Extremes also revealed during the event that a fully-featured mobile version of Warframe will be coming later this year. Naturally, it will be included in the pool for Cross Play and Cross Save features, once that launches.

You can check out the gameplay, and the Cross Play and Cross Save announcement video for yourself below. Warframe’s The New War update is scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC later this year.
