Nacon and Big Bad Wolf Studios have released the first gameplay of upcoming narrative RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong.

The game’s plot kicks off after mysterious figures attacked the Boston Camarilla, a secret society of vampires. Naturally their leader, Hazel Iversen, isn’t happy about this and so she sends out three of her best vamps to investigate. You’ll play as all three of these heroes; Galeb Bazory, Emem Louis and Leysha.

Each of the three has their own speciality, with their own accompanying vampiric powers. Galeb for example can dominate weak-willed characters to make them do his bidding. Emem meanwhile can reach otherwise inaccessible locations using Celerity. Finally, Leysha can conceal her presence using Obfuscate.

You’ll have to use all these powers and more as you make your investigation on the streets of Boston. However some encounters won’t use combat in the traditional sense. Rather, you’ll engage in special ‘confrontations’ which see you having to find the right arguments in dialogues. You’ll also use specific skills and disciplines to get enemies to reveal the truth to you.

Of course, given you’re a vampire, you’ll also have to keep your hunger in check. If you don’t feed on blood, the character you’re controlling at the time will be at the mercy of their inner beast. This beast will effect their actions, and you’ll have to feed on humans to prevent this happening. If you do so though, you’d best keep out of sight and uphold the all-important Masquerade.
