Valorant fans have been treated to a fantastic year so far with the game’s release on console, along with the debut of two great new agents, Clove and Vyse. Unfortunately, despite all these positives, Riot has just announced huge price increases for Valorant VP. Fortunately, this does not apply to all regions, and in some regions the VP price has actually been decreased.

We are currently in the early stages of Episode 9 Act 2. There is a new battle pass full of free and premium rewards, and Act 2 has also introduced Vyse. She is another Sentinel, and she has a unique set of abilities that maker her stand out amongst the crowd of Killjoy, Cypher, Sage, Chamber, and Deadlock.

While all of the above are massive positives for Episode 9 Act 2, you can now to check to see if you are unfortunately affected by the newly announced price increases for Valorant VP.

Valorant VP price changes

Below is how much the price for Valorant VP is set to increase or decrease for each region:

  • Americas
    • Brazil: +14%
    • Canada: No change
    • Chile: +22%
    • Colombia: +6%
    • LATAM regions with prices in USD: Some regions will see a decrease of -15% while others an increase of 12% to standardize prices across LATAM.
    • USA: No change
    • Unlisted regions: No change

  • Asia-Pacific & OCE
    • India: -6%
    • Japan: +20%
    • Korea: +14%
    • Malaysia: +16%
    • Philippines: +7%
    • Unlisted regions: No change

  • Europe & MENA
    • Czech Republic: -9%
    • Hungary: +11%
    • Norway: +12%
    • Poland: -6%
    • Romania: +5%
    • Turkey: +15%
    • Ukraine: +66%
    • Unlisted regions: No change

All of the above regional price updates will start on September 18th. Fortunately, if you live in the United States, you will suffer no change at all. And, if you happen to live in India, you are actually getting a price decrease as opposed to a huge increase like in Ukraine.

Riot’s announcement says that the listed percentages “reflect average price change and vary slightly depending on the bundle and payment method. The amount of currency from gift cards and codes will also be updated, so make sure to redeem them soon to ensure you get maximum value”.

As for why the price of VP is changing in most regions, Riot explains, “As the global economy changes, we sometimes need to adjust our pricing to account for shifts in exchange rates and local economies… With exchange rates always fluctuating, it’s important to try to balance prices across regions. When prices vary too widely, it opens the door for third parties to exploit these differences, using methods like VPNs and server transfers to buy currency at lower prices in one region and sell it for profit in another”.

Lastly, while the price increases suck, Riot is offering some compensation between now and when the changes go live on September 18th. The developer is currently offering “extra bonus virtual currency on in-client purchases in regions where prices are going up. For example, in VALORANT, the 2050 VP bundle (which usually includes 1900 VP + 150 bonus) will now give you 300 bonus VP, making it a total of 2200 VP”.
