The actor who portrayed Sheva Alomar in Resident Evil 5, Eva La Dare, has confirmed she is part of the cast for Tomb Raider Catalyst. La Dare confirmed her appearance after fans recognized her voice in the trailer, where she is positioned as a mysterious villain leading a group of mercenaries opposed to Lara Croft.

Responding over a month later to a fan who recognized her voice in the trailer, Eva La Dare posted on X, “Your ears are GOOD!” Although La Dare “can’t say more yet,” she told fans that she is “so excited to be part of this legendary [Tomb Raider] franchise”.

The Tomb Raider Catalyst trailer was revealed at The Game Awards in December 2025. La Dare serves as the trailer’s narrator, describing the legend of Lara Croft. She says, “You survived the dragon’s triangle,” a reference to Tomb Raider (2013), and also describes Lara as “cross[ing] the threshold to Atlantis,” a nod to the upcoming Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagining of Lara Croft’s 1996 debut.

Beyond her narration, the trailer also gives viewers a glimpse of the character La Dare is playing. While her name and background remain unknown, she is positioned as the leader of a group of mercenaries searching for riches, only to be undone by Lara and a cataclysmic event that likely represents the game’s opening moments.

While Eva La Dare is confirmed as the antagonist featured in the trailer, the only other officially announced cast member is Alix Wilton Regan as the new voice actor for Lara Croft. La Dare is best known for her roles as Sheva in Resident Evil 5 and Elena in Street Fighter, while you may recognize Regan as Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect 3 and Alt Cunningham in Cyberpunk 2077.

How Eva La Dare’s mysterious role could play out in Tomb Raider Catalyst

Eva La Dare could be one of several antagonists in Tomb Raider Catalyst. The game’s brief online synopsis reads, “As the ancient world collides with the present, Lara must decide who to trust among rivals and allies to prevent a catastrophe and protect a secret that could reshape the future”.

Based on the trailer, La Dare’s character is one of Lara Croft’s rivals. The game is set in Northern India, and according to a leaker who previously revealed accurate details about the setting and Lara being portrayed as more mature, the rivals Lara competes against belong to the Society of Raiders.

The Society of Raiders is currently how Crystal Dynamics refers to Tomb Raider fans who sign up for the franchise’s official newsletter. However, leaks suggest it will become an in-game organization, with the Society of Raiders allegedly set to debut in Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis before becoming enemies in Catalyst.

Tomb Raider Catalyst is slated for release in 2027 and is officially a new story set after the events of Tomb Raider Underworld. The same leaks that revealed the Northern India setting and Lara’s more mature age also claim the game will feature a large open world, with a motorcycle available to help you navigate the environment.

While Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst are both exciting prospects, fans also have an upcoming Tomb Raider series starring Sophie Turner to look forward to. The series will stream on Amazon Prime, similar to Fallout, and Amazon is also heavily investing in the Tomb Raider franchise as the publisher of the new games.
