The Game Awards has been phenomenal for Tomb Raider fans. Not only has there been the announcement of a full remake of Lara Croft’s 1996 PS1 debut coming in 2026 called Legacy of Atlantis, but Crystal Dynamics has also announced a second game called Tomb Raider Catalyst, set to arrive in 2027.

Tomb Raider Catalyst is “Set in the wake of a mythical cataclysm that has unleashed ancient secrets and awakened mysterious guardian forces across Northern India”. There is no release date, but it is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and it appears to be the open-world experience leaked in 2024.

Per the PlayStation Blog, “Catalyst features a vertically rich platforming playground of seamless wilderness layered with hidden depths of discovery”. This playground includes “dense jungles, towering mountains, and mysterious ruins”. Lara will be racing against the “world’s most notorious treasure hunters,” and she must decide “who to trust among rivals and allies”.

Both the Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis remake and Catalyst are published by Amazon Games for the first time. Amazon is also producing a live-action Amazon Prime series starring Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, and a producer for the show, Story Kitchen, confirms that Tomb Raider Catalyst shares the same universe as the Sophie Turner series.

While Legacy of Atlantis and Catayst are inbound for the near future, you can watch the Legend of Lara Croft Season 2 on Netflix right now. It is the anime’s final season, and it reprises the role of Lara Croft for Hayley Atwell.
