Alongside Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis, Tomb Raider Catalyst is one-half of the double bill of games Crystal Dynamics has cooking in the oven. Unlike Atlantis, which is a ground-up reimagining of the 1996 debut, Catalyst is a brand-new adventure for the quick-witted adventurer that’s more in line with the reboot trilogy.
Although it’s still early days with Crystal Dynamics having only just revealed the game, we have some pretty firm details that paint a fairly clear picture of what’s in store for long-time fans and newcomers to the storied series. We’ll walk you through everything you need to know about Tomb Raider Catalyst.
- Tomb Raider Catalyst is expected to launch in 2027
- It will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
- The game is set in Northern India and marks a new chapter in the Lara Croft saga.
Predicted Tomb Raider Catalyst release

Tomb Raider Catalyst is currently scheduled for release in 2027, as revealed in the announcement trailer broadcast to the world during The Game Awards 2025. Neither developer Crystal Dynamics nor publisher Amazon Games has provided a definitive date or even a slimmer release window, so we can expect Lara’s next adventure to hit store shelves sometime in 2027. It’s also worth taking 2027 with a pinch of salt to make room for possible delays.
Tomb Raider Catalyst Catalyst gameplay and story predictions

Described as a “bold direction for the series,” Catalyst sees Lara head to Northern India. Following a mythical catalysm that has awakened the region from a centuries-long slumber, secrets and mysterious forces are bubbling up to the surface.
Pitted against other famed treasure hunters, Lara is tasked with deciphering the truth while making sure this long-dormant power that reshapes the future doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
As for the moment-to-moment action, Lara is expected to use traversal to explore a rich landscape, crack intricate puzzles waiting in lost tombs, and use an arsenal of raiding technology and gadgets along the way. She’s a much more experienced Lara than in the reboots, suggesting she’ll play as a seasoned fighter and environment-scaling veteran.
Per the PlayStation blog, it will be the most expansive Tomb Raider adventure yet, giving players a “vertically rich platforming playground of seamless wilderness layered with hidden depths of discovery”. Expect to trudge through dense jungles, climb vertiginously high mountains, and dive into dark ruins and tombs.
Tomb Raider Catalyst trailers
Only one trailer has been released so far. It was revealed during The Game Awards 2025. As expected for a world premiere, it’s CGI-heavy and is very much designed as a piece of exposition rather than a meaty dive into the moment-to-moment action we’ll see in the final product.
We catch Lara prepping for an expedition in a bustling town with fireworks above before she dramatically drops into an underground crypt decked out with ornate golden statues. An armed group beat her there, so after a bit of theatrical dialogue, she takes them out with difficult efficiency by hooking a light to distract them, and then gunning them down.
The trailer continues with Lara saying “That’s where you’re wrong,” voiced by Alix Wilton Regan, who also lent her voice to the globe-trotting adventurer in the 2010 reboot trilogy.
Lara then makes a daring escape from the crumbling crypt, using the environment for traversal, hinting at her potential mobility and agility in the player’s hands. The trailer concludes with a panning shot of a mountainous area dotted with ancient structures and rocky plinths rising from the ground.
Tomb Raider Catalyst platforms

Tomb Raider Catalyst is currently set to launch on the usual platform trio of PC via Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, as confirmed on the freshly-minted Catalyst website. We could see the game ported to other platforms, like the Switch 2, or arrive on other PC storefronts, like the Epic Games Store, pre- or post-launch, but for the moment, only these three have been confirmed.
