Netflix has released the first full trailer for upcoming anime film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf ahead of its launch next month.

The prequel tells the story of a young Vesmir, described as a “cocky young Witcher who delights in slaying monsters for coin”. However, when a dangerous new power rises on the Continent, Vesemir will soon learn the profession of a Witcher is about more than just cold hard cash.

The official Twitter account also revealed some details about the other players in the film, including Tetra who’s a powerful sorceress descended from one of the Contintent’s first mages. Then there’s also Kaedwen noblewoman Lady Zerbst, one of the King’s most trusted advisors. Finally, the fiercely loyal Deglan will do “whatever is necessary” to protect his “boys.” We first learned details of the plot of the movie as far back as last year.

You can check out the trailer for yourself below. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf drops on Netflix on August 23. It’ll be followed by the second season of The Witcher live action series, set to premiere on December 17.
