Supermassive Games has announced that the multiplayer mode for The Quarry, its upcoming horror, is now releasing on July 8th.

The mode was originally going to launch in June, so it’s hardly a supermassive delay. 2K announced the delay on Twitter, saying:

“We’ve made the difficult decision to delay the online multiplayer mode to deliver the best possible experience for you … We appreciate your understanding and hope you’re as excited as we are for launch in just 15 days!”

Supermassive revealed The Quarry only recently, back in March. It’s an Until Dawn-style horror, starring—in a delicious touch—David Arquette, Lance Henriksen, and Ted Raimi. (Ted Raimi ought to be in many more video games than Ted Raimi has been in.)

Check out the trailer below:

The description reads:

“When the sun goes down on the last night of summer camp, nine teenage counselors are plunged into an unpredictable night of horror. The only thing worse than the blood-drenched locals and creatures hunting them are the unimaginable choices you must make to help them survive.”

The most recent thing that Supermassive has done is The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, which was quite amusing. But not in the least bit scary.

The Quarry arrives on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC on June 10, 2022.
