The Last Case of Benedict Fox is an upcoming Metroidvania, set in what looks like Victorian times, with a Lovecraftian twist. Or, at least, there are tentacles involved.

Check out the reveal trailer below:

The description reads:

“Take on the last case of Benedict Fox and dive into a twisted world of secret organizations, forbidden rituals, and cold-blooded murders. Explore the memories of deceased victims as you search for clues and fight demons in this fantastical Lovecraftian Metroidvania.”

So there you go. If you’re a fan of, let’s say, Sundered, you may want to check this out. The trailer reminded me of The Darkness, what with the black tentacles and the demonic voice. It seems to be that this Benedict Fox chap has forged an uneasy alliance with this thing. It helps swing him over gaps, just liked the titular darkness of the The Darkness helped Jackie Estacado.

Plus, Benedict brings to mind a little bit of Guybrush Threepwood, the hero of the Monkey Island games. It’s the blonde, brushed-back hair, I think.

The game is scheduled for release in “Spring 2023,” with no fixed date yet. It is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC, and it will be available on Xbox Game Pass when it launches.
