The Game Awards 2024 is almost ready to begin. It has been an excellent year of video game releases, and tonight the very best will be honored, and we’ll also be given a look into the future for next year and beyond. Here you will find The Game Awards 2024 start time for UK GMT, PT, and ET, as well as leaks, rumors, and confirmed games ready to appear.

As mentioned, it has been an excellent year of video game releases, but next year is even bigger. Of course, there will hopefully be the arrival of GTA 6, there will be the Nintendo Switch 2, and there will be more Xbox exclusives jumping to PS5 starting with Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.

While there are a lot of great games already confirmed for next year, hopefully there will be more announced via fantastic trailers and surprises. The Game Awards 2024 start time is nearly here, and there is a great show to anticipate.

The start time for the Game Awards 2024 is 4:30PM PT and 7:30PM ET on December 12th, as well as 12:30AM GMT for the UK on December 13th.

Countdown

Below is a visual countdown to when the show will start:

Confirmed games

There are a few games already confirmed to be appearing at this year’s show. There will be a full world premiere for Mafia The Old Country from 2K, and there will also be the reveal of Hazelight studio’s next game. They are the folks responsible for the excellent narrative-driven co-op adventures, A Way Out and It Takes Two.

Palworld will be at the event, too, along with Street Fighter 6 to show off its next DLC combatant. It’s also confirmed that Borderlands 4 will be at the show in some capacity.

In addition, Hideo Kojima will be present as a guest presenter, so we should expect to see more Death Stranding 2. This is not official, but it would also be wonderful to see Kojima’s horror project, OD.

Game Awards 2024 leaks and rumors

There are some big leaks and rumors for The Game Awards 2024. Ahead of the event, the release date trailer for Mafia The Old Country has appeared online, confirming a summer 2025 launch window.

As for Nexon, the folks responsible for The First Descendant, they may announce the release date for The First Berserker: Khazan. According to often reliable leaker billbil_kun via dealabs, the release date is March 27th, 2025.

In addition, while we know Hazelight studio’s new game will be at the show, dealabs reports that it is called Split Fiction, and that its release date is March 6th, 2025. This again comes courtesy of Billbil_kun, and, once more, it is merely a leak so not official as of writing.

In addition to the above, there was also an alleged leak shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit suggesting the following:

  • Something related to GOD OF WAR.
  • Rise of the Ronin DLC announcement.
  • Split Fiction release date reveal from Josef Fares at TGA.
  • Confirmation of Crimson Desert release date at TGA.
  • Announcement of release date for The First Berserker Khazan at TGA.
  • Dune Awakening release date reveal at The Game Awards.
  • Two Chinese games and The Perceiver showcase at PlayStation or TGA.

Both The First Beserker and Split Fiction rumors were posted on threads before Billbil_kun, so it’s possible the rest might be accurate assuming billbil is, too.

Games we hope to see

It’s the hope that kills you, but obviously there are an assortment of unconfirmed games we would love to see revealed or shown off. We obviously to want to see the second trailer for GTA 6 as it’s been over a year since the first, and only, trailer came out.

We would also love to see Persona 6, and, if that’s unlikely, we’d love to see a western release date announce for Persona 5 Phantom Thieves X. Naughty Dog have been working on multiple projects behind-the-scenes so it would be great to see what they’re cooking, and Wonder Woman from Monolith Studios hasn’t been seen since the Game Awards 2021, so we’re really hoping for an update on that project. There have also been rumors about Resident Evil 9 starring Leon and Jill, so we’re hopeful Capcom will pull the curtain aside on their next zombie horror adventure.

It shouldn’t be expected, but it would also be great to just see a teaser of Tomb Raider 12. It’s unlikely to happen and is fanciful thinking at best, but Crystal Dynamics have been working on unified Lara for several years, and we haven’t had a new TR game since Shadow all the way back in 2018.
