Update: Following feedback from the community, Nexon has announced changes to the The First Descendant Season 1 release schedule.

Original story:

The First Descendant is set to launch its beginning chapter very soon. We have all enjoyed TFD in pre-season, and it has been a blast so far introducing the likes of Luna along with implementing changes based on feedback from the community. While everyone is looking forward to S1, many The First Descendant fans are upset over the Season 1 roadmap because of a Hailey and Ultimate Freyna revelation.

Nexon has shared the early Season 1 patch notes, and it details all of the upcoming content on the way including new weapons and a new difficulty. The release date for Season 1 is August 29th, and we will be getting Hailey as a new playable character. She looks wicked, and many have compared her look to the iconic Sniper Wolf from the original Metal Gear Solid.

While Hailey will be available from day one, the unfortunate news is that the official The First Descendant Season 1 roadmap confirms we won’t be getting Ultimate Freyna for a couple of months.

The First Descendant Season 1 roadmap

Below is The First Descendant Season 1 roadmap as shared by Nexon on X:

  • W1 Update – August 29th:
    • Dungeon – Invasion
    • Descendant – Hailey
    • Inversion Reinforcement
    • Season 1 Battle Pass
    • And more
  • W5 Update – September 26th:
    • Void Intercept Battle
    • Ultimate Weapon
    • External Components
    • Descendants Exclusive Spawn
    • And more
  • W10 Update – October 30th:
    • Ultimate Freyna
    • Hard-mode Infiltration
    • Modification Modules
    • Ultimate Module
    • And more

In the twitter thread replies, there are many fans severely disappointed by the “drip feeding” of content. One comment says, “Was hyped up from the trailer about season 1, and now heartbroken from the fact that it will takes us 2 MONTHS to get Ultimate Freyna and all the content. We will run out of content until then and you guys will experience a huge drop in your player base”.

On the game’s subreddit, there is also division in the community with some accusing fans of overreacting to the Season 1 roadmap. Some fans feel the drip feeding is bad because “Most players will leave before October 30”.

While some are upset over the late release for Ultimate Freyna, there are just as many upset about Nexon “splitting Hailey and her transcendent mods”. These fans are upset that Nexon is releasing Hailey’s red mods two months after debut.

In addition to criticizing the drip feeding of content, some fans on Reddit have also claimed that the Season 1 trailer is misleading as it presents the viewpoint that everything shown will be available day one.

While the urge for everything to be available day one is understandable, scheduled patches for a season is typical of live-service games. Its goal is to constantly provide new content to keep players invested and coming back instead of just completing everything right away.
