The First Descendant is finally about to begin its first proper chapter. Right now we’ve all been enjoying the game during pre-season, and TFD has been an absolute blast so far thanks to wicked characters and continuous support from Nexon. The release date and time countdown for when The First Descendant Season 1 update will start and end is nearly over, and there is a lot to anticipate from a new playable character to eventually Ultimate Freyna.
Nexon has revealed the full update 1.1.0 patch notes for Season 1 detailing all of the new content set to arrive including fixes, changes, battle pass skins, and more. Fans were upset over the initial roadmap of updates, but, thankfully, Nexon quickly changed the S1 schedule in another display proving they are listening to fans and are more than willing to change course depending on feedback.
We’ve thoroughly enjoyed TFD since launch, and the game is set to get better with the beginning of its first chapter. The release date and time countdown for when The First Descendant Season 1 will start is nearly over, and Nexon has shared exactly when maintenance will begin and end.
The First Descendant Season 1 release date
The release date for The First Descendant Season 1 is August 29th. This has been confirmed by Nexon on X.
One of the things you can anticipate from day one is Hailey. She is the newest playable character, and Nexon has shared details about her abilities. She is cold and sniper-themed, and she looks fantastic with her design reminding many of the iconic Sniper Wolf from MGS1.
When does The First Descendant Season 1 start?
The release time for when The First Descendant Season 1 will start is 4AM PT/7AM ET/12PM BST on August 29th.
Per Nexon on X, maintenance for TFD Season 1 will start at 10PM PT on August 28th, as well as 1AM ET/6AM BST on August 29th. Maintenance is then expected to end at all of the hours listed above on Thursday.
It’s possible a delay could occur, but Nexon has outlined the official schedule. Unfortunately, the game will be unavailable during maintenance. We will update this article if anything changes.

TFD S1 schedule
While Season 1 is scheduled to start on August 29th, it is split into two updates. The second update will arrive on October 10th.
This is an amendment to the previous S1 roadmap that had three updates. Below is Nexon’s message to the community explaining the change:
“Greetings, Descendants. This The First Descendant’s Producer, Lee Beom-jun.
First, I would like to thank all Descendants for enjoying our game.
Recently I’ve noticed that many of you are concerned about our current update schedule for Season 1 and as a result, we decided to readjust it.
To make a long story short, we’ve decided to move up our update schedule for October 30th to October 10th.
The previous schedule was initially planned to provide consistent updates every month, before each content release.
However, I have to admit that I’ve failed to fully meet your expectations.
So, rather than splitting into three partial updates, Season 1 will be divided into two updates, one on August 29th and the other on October 10th.
Along with the above change, we have also begun examining the update methods for the upcoming seasons in the future.
In order to do so, our previous 3rd update for Season 1, will be merged to the 2nd update, which as mentioned above, will take place on October 10th.
Currently, the Dev team is working on continuous updates and hotfixes since our official launch.
We are taking various measures and methods, such as reorganizing the development process and even actively recruiting additional personnel.
We will do our best to prepare better updates that will make you satisfied.
