The First Descendant is a brilliant game, and developer Nexon deserve their flowers for how they have listened to the community on many occasions. A lot of developers simply buckle down and block out the noise, but Nexon have significantly changed the game to cater to the wants of the community. This deserves applause, but The First Descendant developer still hasn’t fixed a controversial system that has been “ripping people off” since day one of the game’s launch.

Nexon has made it abundantly clear that they are listening to feedback from fans. They significantly increased the farming rate for Hailey following uproar from the community at the start of Season 1, and now they have promised test servers are on the way, for which you will be able to sign up to directly provide feedback before updates are released. Not only that, but the developer is also soon adding multiplayer mode to Invasion Dungeons.

While all of the above is great, we also sorely hope Nexon will finally fix the much-complained about dye system. It has been a bane within The First Descendant community since day one of the game’s release, and it’s surely something the developer is aware about.

The First Descendant needs to fix dye system

The dye/paint system has been regular hot topic of controversy within The First Descendent community. Fans have previously regarded it as a “greedy system” because of how they can only be used once despite needing to be purchased.

While it’s still true that Nexon should consider making paints a one time unlock, another significant issue with the system is that the dye in previews never looks the same in-game.

When applying dye to a character’s skin, the preview happens in a menu where the lighting is completely different to in-game against a blank background. Here dyes such as white look bright and sleek, but then returning to the game it looks completely different.

There are numerous examples of the above sentiment, but the most recent comes courtesy of Reddit user, Retired_Ela_Main. Their post complains about the bad color inconsistency, and the post comes with screenshots as evidence.

Fans unanimously agree that something needs to be changed aside from the monetary aspect. One of the top replies points out “Warframe doesn’t move you to an entirely different zone when messing around with colors so you can see how everything looks… TFD moves you to a featureless void with entirely different lighting system so none of the colors will look accurate once you leave”.

One good idea from the community is Nexon adding a “scene swap system”. This can be seen in character creator’s such as Dragon’s Dogma 2 where you can change the scenery behind your character to see how they look in different lighting and environments.

Right now a lot of the comments say Nexon is “ripping people off,” and they are not willing to buy any paint because of the current system that is in-place. Hopefully a fix is made in the future as the developer does listen to the community and this has been a frequent complaint echoed by so many.
