The First Descendant dev explains why fans are not getting a new update

Nexon has a lot of plans for The First Descendant in March 2025. There is the upcoming release of Season 2 Episode 2, and this will see the addition of Serena, as well as the game’s next beautiful Fellow. There is a lot more that will accompany the new TFD chapter, but the unfortunate news is The First Descendant players are not getting a new update before Season 2 Episode 2’s release.

Why The First Descendant is not getting an update

The First Descendant typically receives a new update every Thursday. However, Nexon has confirmed that there will not be a hotfix for TFD on March 6th, which means there will also not be a new update released prior to the launch of Season 2 Episode 2 on March 13th.

As for why we are not getting an update, TFD director, Jooms, has explained on Discord that it’s because Nexon are fully focusing on development for Season 2 Episode 2. On February 27th, an update was released to deliver the secret agent skins and address some bugs, but even that was a minimal update due to the developer’s focus on S2E2.

While the lack of an update this week is disappointing, the good news is that compensation is coming in the form of a developer livestream on March 6th instead. This is where we will finally learn the abilities for Serena, as well as see new skins for S2E2 along with a boatload more content Nexon is working on behind-the-scenes.

If there are any issues you are currently experiencing or are known about for TFD, don’t expect them to get fixed until possibly the next update scheduled for March 13th. If there’s anything critical it’s possible Nexon could deliver an emergency hotfix, but right now nothing is planned.
