Update: The Finals devs have released announcement for the next update, this time pushing it back for all platforms to let Xbox and Microsoft catch up. Below, we detailed the issues that the 3.4.0 update faced upon release, and even still there has been no movement on a solution. The devs have said that they are “working tirelessly with their partners at Microsoft” to resolve the solution, and that they will “push out the update for everyone as soon as possible.”
Original story below:
The Finals received a massive update last week that was easily the biggest since the launch of Season 3. However, while this patch was released on both PS5 and PC, the unfortunate news is that Xbox players were left out. The Finals devs are “super sorry for the lengthy delay,” and fans are blaming Microsoft instead of Embark.
You can check out the update 3.4.0 patch notes to see all of the important weapon nerfs and buffs, along with tweaks to game modes. While it’s not live yet, the update has shown that the previously leaked Emerald rank is real, and that it provides fantastic news for fans wanting Cashout to return to Ranked. Some fans are upset that there were no nerfs for Light, but maybe they will happen in the future.
While The Finals fans on PS5 and PC are waiting with anticipation for a new update this week, players on Xbox are still waiting for 3.4.0 to come out.
The Finals fans on Xbox blame Microsoft for 3.4.0 delay
The Finals’ update 3.4.0 patch was delayed twice before releasing on July 12th for PS5 and PC. While it was delayed twice before coming out for PlayStation and PC, the unfortunate news is that it is still delayed for Xbox consoles.
On the game’s official Discord, Embark Oscar provided the following announcement:
“Hello again Xbox friends! We’re currently working together with Microsoft on the situation that’s blocking the 3.4 release on Xbox. I currently don’t have an ETA for when we will be able to release, but as soon as I learn anything I will share it will all of you. We’re super sorry for this lengthy delay, and can only ask that you’re patient with us as we work through it.”
There’s no specific mention of what the hold up is, the only other message communicated on July 12th was that Embark were “waiting to hear back from our friends at Xbox about the issue”.
It’s a huge shame there’s no ETA for when it will release, but, hopefully, it will be very soon. A new patch traditionally happens every week, but that hasn’t been the case with Xbox because of this delay.
While Embark are “super sorry,” fans are blaming Microsoft. On the Discord, there are numerous messages blaming and lambasting Microsoft for the delay. There are messages such as “Microsoft Xbox is just straight up garbage” and “Typical Microsoft… Glad I put my series X to the side and built a PC!”.
Although Embark hasn’t explained the specific issue, fans are speculating that it involves the console verification process. It’s unknown what could be delaying the release of the update on Microsoft’s end seeing as the patch released on PS5 three days ago, but hopefully Microsoft will give Embark the go-ahead soon.
