A new survival horror from the makers of Dead Space – The Callisto Protocol has quite a lot on its shoulders when it arrives next month.

While it’s also set in deep space, and features unspeakable horrors, rest assured fans are eager to get their hands on the game and want to know what date to mark in their calendars.

So let’s have a look when we’ll be wearing our brown spacesuit, and launching into The Callisto Protocol.

The Callisto Protocol is set to arrive on December 2, 2022. It’ll be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The game is also set to get a Season Pass, with DLC arriving at some point after launch – you can read about that over here.

As for the plot, the game takes place 300 years in the future – on one of Jupiter’s moons; the titular Callisto.

Unfortunately, you’re not there on a lovely space holiday. Rather, you are Jacob Lee, an inmate who’s been thrown into the maximum security Black Iron Prison.

Not too long after you arrive, however, things start getting creepy and head south very quickly – as inmates begin transforming into grotesque monsters and killing everyone, inmate and guard alike.

It’ll be up to you to survive, uncover a dark and disturbing secret hidden on the moon and somehow get off there, all while keeping yourself in relatively one piece.

You’ll get to find out if you can indeed do that when the game arrives on December 2.

Is the Callisto Protocol Dead Space?

No. While The Callisto Protocol may share a similar space-horror genre, and the director is Dead Space creator Glen Schofield (and the development team also including several Dead Space veterans) – it is an entirely unrelated universe and story.

Is The Callisto Protocol PlayStation only?

No, The Callisto Protocol will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
