Nintendo has released the first post-launch Tears of the Kingdom patch notes and this update finally addresses a main quest bug that prevented some gamers from progressing through the story. Simply downloading the patch will finally allow you to clear the mission if you’ve already encountered it during your playthrough.

But if you’re one of the lucky players that managed to beat the game without issue, then you may already be busy searching for all 15 Skyview Tower locations and shrine locations to fully complete Tears of the Kingdom. However, we still recommend checking out the rest of the changes that have been made below so you know what to expect once you’ve installed the update.

Tears of the Kingdom v1.1.1 patch notes

Much like the game’s day one update, the Tears of the Kingdom v1.1.1 patch notes only contains a few fixes, which includes the aforementioned fix to the ‘A Closed Door’ quest bug. You can read about the rest of the changes that have arrived with this update here:

General Updates

  • Fixed issue where, sometimes, the player could not clear main quest “The Closed Door,” even if they fulfilled the conditions to advance the quest.
    • If you have already encountered this issue, you will be able to clear the quest by downloading this update data.
  • Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.

Aside from the main quest fix, this patch similarly contains several unspecified performance and stability improvements so you should be able to enjoy a much smoother in-game experience moving forward. This also means that you should be able to have a much easier time finding all stable locations and Great Fairy locations in Tears of the Kingdom since there’ll be a lesser number of in-game issues that will disrupt your adventure through Hyrule.
