The much-ballyhooed early access launch of Starfield has predictably been met with critical acclaim as Bethesda’s latest interstellar RPG gives the typical space faring video game experience a necessary refresher. But aside from the game’s sprawling world, sophisticated character design, and bespoke ship customization options that players have already come to expect, one other small, yet surprising aspect that has fans praising this interplanetary epic is the ability to be “truly evil” with the use of the ‘toilet paper flip’ action.

Now with the Starfield early access release time having already arrived, most people would agree that there is only one correct way to position a toilet roll in a holder and that’s with the paper hanging over instead of under. However, some players have apparently decided to embrace their inherent dark side as many have begun using the flip action present within the game to position it the wrong way.

Based on a particular Starfield subreddit post, one user simply said: “I’m not usually a fan of binary “Good or Evil” choices, but Starfield really lets you go off the rails in terms of being truly evil.” Afterwards, they included an image of an in-game toilet paper roll that they had presumably flipped over – a decision which would have undoubtedly ruined the day of the next Settled Systems citizen that used the desecrated commode.

This message along with the attached graphic in question eventually triggered a debate within the thread’s comments that saw a handful of Redditors take both sides of the argument. Of course, there were also some readers that simply enjoyed discovering this action as one responder said they “would be doing this to every [toilet paper roll]” they see – a risky move that could end up ruffling a few Starfield companions‘ feathers.
