The action-packed Spider-Man 2 story trailer that was revealed as part of Insomniac Games’ San Diego Comic Con showcase gave us an even better look at the follow-up entry’s dramatic plot. Naturally, the preview exhibited how the game will heavily revolve around the relationship between Harry Osborn and Peter Parker, Miles Morales’ unending anger towards Mr. Negative, Kraven’s bloodlust, and the symbiote Venom’s destructive effect in each of these characters’ lives.

Now, the developers still haven’t exactly confirmed who Venom’s host is going to be in Spider-Man 2. But based on one of the scenes that was exhibited, it seems Harry is set to be the game’s primary antagonist after a portion of the clip showed the symbiote floating inside a container while Norman Osborn told his ailing son that “I’m not going to lose you.”

Of course, merging with the powerful symbiote in an effort to use its superhuman healing capabilities is one way of making sure your child lives to see another day. But alas, Venom’s aggressiveness and brutality makes this tradeoff something that Harry and Norman will surely forget as the next scene sees the former looking over at the New York skyline while the symbiote’s menacing voice can be heard saying: “We’re going to kill the world.”

Aside from Venom’s hatred towards every living being, however, the Spider-Man 2 story trailer also gave us even more scenes of symbiote Spider-Man – better known as bully Peter Parker – laying waste to all of the enemies that get in his way. With all these exciting plot elements and story arcs in mind, Insomniac Games’ next web-slinging entry is seemingly set to be one of the best games of the year. All you’ll need to do now is wait until the Spider-Man 2 release date rolls around towards the latter part of the year.
