Space Marine 2 is still reeling hardcore Warhammer fans and newbies interested in all of the buzz surrounding this action-packed title. An expanding player base can also lead to “toxic” players, but developer Saber Interactive is clear that bad behaviour won’t be tolerated.

The developers at Saber have shown they wouldn’t inherit toxic traits before, having more realistic sales figures for their acclaimed title. While the devs did give in to weird demands, like making sure the character’s ankles were 100% accurate to the models they’re based on, the game seems to have released smoothly.

Toxic Space Marine 2 fans will not be tolerated

In a Space Marine 2 community update, the devs at Saber Interactive briefly mention how some players insult each other with hurtful comments. Although nothing was specified, the devs did say that they would “take action to prevent it.” Since this game has online multiplayer, expect bans and suspensions for players who won’t stop doing this.

Over the past month, some players have experienced toxic speedrunners avoiding mission objectives to farm XP, but the biggest issue is typical of most online multiplayer games. With voice chat enabled, some players have been subject to horrible abuse by a vocal minority of players, and Saber will not tolerate it.

One week has passed since the announcement and no major actions have been announced by Saber or players who might be affected by this. Fans are still fairly positive about the game, especially with a new October Operation, so players don’t have any reason to be negative right now.

Not everything about the game is flawless, with mechanics like the ping system being awkward to use, but players are still enjoying the visceral combat with their friends. Time will tell if more toxicity happens after this, but it seems that Saber Interactive has plans to handle these “toxic” players.

You might be hurting Superman’s feelings

During the community update for Space Marine 2, the devs said players should be careful about who they insult since Henry Cavill might be that person. The Man of Steel and Witcher actor is actively playing the game, with players unsure of his username. If anything, that’s more than enough reason to show love to your fellow space marine.

Cavill has been open about his interest in all things Warhammer, alongside other popular video games. The former Garelt actor has brought up his love for World of Warcraft and actively enjoys novels of The Witcher. Reports even claim that his love for the source material is why he left the Netflix show, as the writers take it in a completely new direction.

For more on Space Marine 2, fans can check out how the game will be improved by the upcoming PS5 Pro. A DLC story for the action-packed title might also be in the works, which is great news for offline players.
