Platinum Games has announced that its upcoming shoot-em-up Sol Cresta should finally be with us by February 22.

The Japanese studio announced the new date during a Sol Cresta Release Date Forum livestream over the weekend. Hosting the broadcast were several members of the game’s development team, including creative director Hideki Kamiya and director Takanori Sato.

The date was the newest one given for the shooter, which was originally set to land in December of last year. Kamiya later revealed the game was delayed via a ‘Very Sorry’ stream in November, with a new announcement to come in the New Year. However, Platinum Games would also ironically delay that announcement by a couple of weeks too, citing technical issues.

Sol Cresta is a spiritual sequel to arcade bullet-hell blasters Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta. The twist is you’ll power up your ship by “docking” it with other ships as you fly. These ships can also split off to form formations, and help you take down the waves of enemies on screen.

2022 is set to be quite a busy year for Platinum, with Babylon’s Fall also set to arrive in March. That’ll be followed by the long-awaited Bayonetta 3, which is also set to finally land later this year. You can check out the full Sol Cresta Release Date Forum Livestream for yourself down below.
