Platinum Games has announced that space shooter Sol Cresta will launch on December 9 on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC.

The studio made the announcement as part of Japanese indie game festival BitSummit (as per Gematsu). The studio also revealed during the event that the game will be getting a Story Mode DLC entitled the ‘Sol Cresta Dramatic Downloadable Content‘. This pack will include a new voiced story, penned by none other than Viewtiful Joe and Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya. We’re promised more details on that aforementioned Story DLC at a later time. Stay tuned for more, then.

Sol Cresta was originally announced back in 2020 as, believe it or not, an April Fool’s joke. However, the shooter then became a real thing when it was re-announced a year later. It’s a successor to 1980’s bullet hell arcade titles Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta. As you blast through waves of enemies, you’ll be able to dock with other ships to change your weapons and power up.  You’re even able to change configurations on the fly.

You can check out seven minutes of gameplay footage from the show, thanks to Gematsu, below. Sol Cresta launches on December 9 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC.
