The preload date and size for Silent Hill f is revealed, and the download size is mercifully small compared to most other games nowadays including the SH2 Remake. Silent Hill f has quickly become one of the most anticipated games of the year because it’s the first Silent Hill set in Japan, taking the series back to its j-horror roots. We don’t have too much longer to wait for its release date to arrive, and, fortunately, you won’t have to free up too much space on your system to be able to explore the fog in just a few weeks.
Silent Hill f preload date and size revealed
The preload date for Silent Hill f differs on which version you buy because of early access. If you opt for 48-hours early access with the Deluxe edition, you will be able to preload from September 21st, meanwhile, the Standard edition will be available to preload from September 23rd.
Regardless of which version you buy, the preload size is 36.637 GB. This comes courtesy of PlayStationSize on X. Unfortunately, it’s only for PS5 so we don’t know the exact sizes for Xbox and PC, but it’s unlikely to be much bigger or smaller on Xbox, and the Steam system requirements state 50 GB available space for minimum and recommended.
Thankfully, the file size for Silent Hill f is small rather than stupidly big. So many games nowadays are in excess of 50 to 100GB, so it’s relieving to have a new big release that is smaller. In comparison, the Silent Hill 2 Remake is 50.535 GB on PS5. The recently released Cronos New Dawn from Bloober Team is even smaller at just 21GB, but the optimization for Silent Hill f is still excellent.
The release date for Silent Hill f is September 25th for the Standard edition with 48-hours early access available from September 23rd for the Deluxe. Leading up to its release, the developer has said the game is “more action oriented” than the SH2 Remake, however, the horror hasn’t been softened as even the game’s lead actress has said the story and her role was so traumatising she felt her “own sanity slipping”. Konami has also told newcomers to the series that you do not need to have played any of the previous Silent Hill games as f is a completely “independent” story.
As for what’s next for the franchise, it’s confirmed that Bloober Team are working on a Silent Hill Remake.
