TimeGate Studios has announced it will release Section 8, the sci-fi multiplayer first-person shooter, as a downloadable game via the PlayStation Store.

Released last year on PC and Xbox 360, the PS3 version will feature a full single-player campaign, instant action mode (including bots) and a multiplayer mode offering 11 maps. Using TimeGate Studios’ proprietary TGNServer technology, gamers will be able to host 32 player games from their home PCs.

“Section 8 will be an unforgettable experience for first-person shooter fans on the PlayStation 3 system since there’s nothing quite like it on the PlayStation Network,” said Adel Chaveleh, CEO, TimeGate Studios. “We’re sure fans will agree that Section 8 is a breath of fresh air for gamers tired of stale, ‘me-too’ multiplayer first-person shooters that fail to innovate.”

Once the game launches in the spring, players will be able to view stats, manage clans and track leaderboards using the Section 8 website.
