After weeks of rumours, were now seeing the RTX 4080 price cut across popular retailers including Newegg, Overclockers & Amazon.

There’s been much speculation about why the Nvidia RTX 4080 is dropping in price.

It’s no secret that the RTX 4080 release was a bit of a slump, especially when up against the flagship RTX 4090. It released in October with a starting price of $1,600. With a price like this, we’re not surprised that only a few buyers were interested in a GPU second best to the RTX 4090. The pressure is on for Nvidia to shift their RTX 4080 stock. You can track it here.

  1. Overclockers UK: Palit GeForce RTX 4080 GameRock OmniBlack – was £1,300 now £1,169
  2. Amazon UK: Palit GeForce RTX 4080 GameRock OmniBlack – was £1,365 now £1,189
  3. Amazon UK: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GAMING OC Graphics Card – was £1,449 now £1,299
  4. Amazon US: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4080 Eagle OC 16G Graphics Card – was $1,450 now $1,375

Some might say the RTX 4080 price cut is conveniently timed ahead of AMD’s release of the RDNA 3 RX 7900 XT & XTX, although Nvidia denies this.

RTX 4080 deals

Coming at just the right time we’ve found a number of worthy RTX 4080 deals from popular retailers. By knocking off a few hundred from the asking price, the RTX 4080 quickly grows to be a more desirable graphics card:

Should I buy the RTX 4080 or AMD’s RX 7900 XTX?

At the time of writing, it’s unclear whether AMD or Nvidia will offer the sweeter deal.

If you haven’t compared the performances of each graphics card yet, check out our versus guides. We’ve covered the RTX 4080 vs RX 7900 XT, and RX 4080 vs RX 7900 XTX here.

What we do know is that Overclockers UK has served up a competitive price for the RTX 4080, now retailing for £1,169. This could be because there have been reports of AMD graphics card shortages ahead of the RX 7000 XT & XTX release in regions outside the US, including the UK.

If this is the case, the RTX 4080 discount may come as bitter sweet. Ultimately though, we’ll have to hold off until the AMD launch date to decide if the RTX 4080 is worth it.
