Whilst the pricing of MMORPGs has become as generic as the action itself, RedBedlam are attempting to change the way we pay for access to the MMORPG game worlds enjoyed by thousands of people around the world.

In a revolutionary move, RedBedlam have announced that there will be no standard monthly-fee paid by owners of the game, but instead you will be able to purchase in-game currency as and when you need it, to supplement that which can be obtained through normal play. The principles behind the idea are noble enough; as with any online RPG, you will have a cross-section of gamers, all with varying amounts of time to devote to any such title, and yet all pay the same price. RedBedlam’s idea is to change the way we pay, by simply saying that if you play more, you pay more.

Whilst the finer details have yet to be announced (such as conversion rate of real-money to in-game currency), the current estimate is the around 10 Euros will last about a month. It is worth pointing out, though, that this estimate does not clarify how much actual play-time those 10 Euros would cover. And, perhaps more importantly, no details are yet forthcoming about what you need to spend money on.

Regardless, it could be a very interesting development. More details on the pricing, and the game, can be found on the website.
