Fans of the recent Resident Evil 4 remake are getting excited, after a number of new Steam achievements were added to the game which may indicate DLC – and potentially the fan-requested Separate Ways chapter – coming to the game very soon.

The achievements have appeared on the game’s Steam page overnight, and are still available to view at the time of writing. These mysterious additions don’t give anything away, however, with the placeholder names 40-en, 41-en, 42-en and so on, and their descriptions are completely blank for the most part. Users noticed these achievements being added, and alerted fans on Reddit to their appearance. As noted by a number of users, Capcom has done this before, where they’ve added a number of achievements to a Resi game before later announcing a DLC, although there’s no indication of exactly when it could drop.

Most of the game’s fanbase are hopeful that the DLC in question could be the much-requested Separate Ways chapter to the remake. To bring you up to speed, the original version of Resident Evil 4 would later get a mini-expansion starring super-spy Ada Wong and showing what she got up to while Leon’s adventures proceeded on the island in the main game. While the Remake’s story does change a few aspects of said story, there’s still plenty of room for a potential Ada-fronted adventure to be told in a similar manner in the remake, not least (minor spoilers) a nod to the expansion’s name in the dialogue late in the main game.

There’s been no confirmation from Capcom so far if there are plans to release a Separate Ways DLC, that being said. Not long after launch, Resident Evil 4 did get a small DLC update that added the fan-favourite Mercenaries mode to the game and we have been told that the PlayStation 5 version, at least, will be getting a free PS VR2 mode later down the line. However, it’s not currently confirmed if that VR mode could make its way to PC.

For now, all eyes (including ones that make for weak spots on big mutated monsters) will be on Capcom to see if they announce something in the near future. We’ll let you know if they do. Resident Evil 4 is out now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PS4 and PC.
