It’s been announced that PSVR 2 support will be coming as a free DLC update for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake.

The news was announced by the official Japanese Biohazard Twitter account (as spotted by Eurogamer) earlier today, confirming the addition was on development for the PSVR 2.

A later tweet confirmed that the mode will be released as free DLC for owners of the game on the platform, but couldn’t yet provide any sort of ETA for the DLC.

The announcement comes on the same day a patch has been released for Resident Evil Village, which has also brought that game a VR mode for the new headset in time for its launch today.

The official English Language Resident Evil account would later confirm the patch was in development a few hours later, as it dropped the trailer for the PSVR 2 support for Resident Evil Village.

Of course, the original Resident Evil 4 itself got a bespoke VR version – but that was exclusively for the Meta Quest 2 in 2021.

This, meanwhile – will allow players a whole new perspective on the remake, which is slowly approaching release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC on March 24.

There’s no ETA for the Resident Evil 4 Remake PSVR 2 patch at the time of writing, but presumably their work on Village’s VR should help expedite the development a little.

We’ve got our fingers crossed then that we’ll see it by the end of the year, and we can’t wait. We’ll update when we hear more.
