A new update for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on the PlayStation 5 has dropped, which among other things adds a new 120Hz display mode for compatible TVs.

As revealed by the patch notes, the 1.002 update increases the frame rate target on the Fidelity graphics mode to 40FPS when playing the game on a 120Hz compatible display. While 30 and 60 FPS are usually the norm, the value of 40 has been selected as it also fits nicely into a 120Hz refresh rate without causing issues such as screen tearing.

Elsewhere, the update adds the ability to disable the Phantom Dash VFX, makes the ‘skip cutscene’ function bindable to the D-pad as well as the ability to toggle armour on and off in the game’s Photo Mode. Speaking of Photo Mode, there’s also a bunch of new stickers, solid colour backgrounds and more to help create your perfect pictures.

Finally, there’s also a bunch of smaller fixes and tweaks to missions, including squashing nasty Trophy-related bugs. The update should download automatically the next time you start the game up. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart launched last month exclusively for the PlayStation 5 and we thought it was rather good.

Meanwhile, it also emerged last week that one of Insomniac Games’ future projects will see the studio tackle multiplayer for the first time in a good while.
